CNC Machinist – First Class

Location: Farmingdale, NY

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role
Superior Motion Controls is seeking a First-Class CNC
Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team in Farmingdale, NY. This
role is ideal for an experienced machinist who thrives in a fast-paced,
quality-focused environment and has deep expertise in CNC setup, operation, and
troubleshooting. The position supports the production of precision components
used in critical defense and aerospace applications.


What You’ll Do
  • Set up, program, and operate vertical CNC machining centers to produce
    precision components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T specifications, setup sheets, and
    engineering drawings
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure adherence to tight
    tolerances
  • Select tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds to optimize machining performance and
    quality
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and setup records
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve machining
    processes
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean work environment
  • Work with a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum and Inconel
Must-Have Skills and Experience
(These are required for consideration.)
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on CNC machining experience
  • Strong setup and operation experience on CNC machining centers
  • Experience working within tight tolerances
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments including:
    • Micrometers
    • Calipers
    • Height gauges
    • Dial indacators
  • Strong understanding of machining different materials and cutting tool technology
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • US Citizen
Nice-to-Have Skills
(These are preferred but not required.)
  • Experience with Fanuc, Haas, OKK, or similar CNC control platforms
  • Experience operating both vertical and horizontal mills
  • Manual machining experience using Bridgeport equipment
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
  • Experience machining Inconel or specialty alloys

Additional Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:30 PM, with overtime available including Saturdays and extended weekday hours
Salary Range: $38-$48/hour DOE
Travel: None expected
