Position Title – CNC Machinist III

Position Overview
The CNC Machinist III is a highly skilled, senior-level machinist responsible for independently programming, setting up, and operating CNC machine tools to produce complex components. This individual is capable of taking a part from print to completion with minimal supervision, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to safety and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate CNC machines, including tooling verification and part offsets
• Program toolpaths using CAM software for complex machining operations
• Machine parts from start to finish with minimal supervision
• Monitor machine performance and identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions
• Adjust speeds, feeds, depths, and cutting parameters to optimize performance
• Perform precise measurements using inspection tools to verify accuracy and quality
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
• Maintain equipment and ensure machines are operating per standards
• Document and communicate job status to support shift-to-shift continuity
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing protocols
Must Haves
• 5+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment
• Strong ability to set up, operate, and program CNC machines independently
• Experience with CAM software for toolpath programming
• Proven ability to machine complex parts from print to completion
• Experience working with exotic materials and specialty tooling
• Solid understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
• Strong math skills and understanding of machining principles
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot machining issues
• High attention to detail and strong quality mindset
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Nice to Have
• Experience with Powermill or similar advanced CAM software
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Apprenticeship or vocational training in machining or manufacturing
• Leadership or mentoring experience within a machining environment
• Experience in tight-tolerance or high-spec industries (aerospace, medical, defense, etc.)
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
• Shop-floor environment with moderate machine noise
• Exposure to moving equipment, machining operations, and physical hazards
• Exposure to oils, cutting fluids, dust, and fumes
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
• Regular lifting:
- Up to 25 lbs frequently
- Up to 50 lbs occasionally
- 50+ lbs rarely
• Ability to read blueprints, gauges, and measurement instruments
• Must be able to communicate effectively and follow written/verbal instructions
