Junior Privacy Web Developer

Location: Cape Town, South Africa (Hybrid)

Working Arrangement: Two days per week in the Cape Town office working US Eastern Time (EST) hours. The remaining days are worked remotely from home during local South African business hours.

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a fast-growing global consulting firm specializing in privacy technology, compliance, and digital transformation.

We're seeking a Junior Privacy Web Developer to join their innovative Cape Town team. This role is ideal for an early-career developer looking to build expertise in web technologies, privacy, and compliance while working on projects for global clients.

You'll collaborate with experienced consultants to design, configure, implement, and support privacy technology solutions across a variety of industries.

What You'll Do

Configure and implement privacy and consent management platforms.
Develop web-based consent solutions using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related technologies.
Support cookie consent banner implementations and integrations through Google Tag Manager, APIs, and consent management platforms.
Test, troubleshoot, and debug web implementations using browser developer tools.
Evaluate website performance and identify opportunities to improve consent and cookie management functionality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable privacy technology solutions.
Assist with platform integrations, client implementations, and ongoing optimization.
Manage multiple client projects while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related.
1+ years of experience in web development, software development, privacy technology, or a related technical role.
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web development fundamentals.
Experience with Python scripting (basic to intermediate).
Familiarity with Google Tag Manager, WordPress, Adobe Experience Manager, or similar platforms.
Understanding of cookies, browser storage, tracking technologies, tags, and pixels.
Experience using browser developer tools for troubleshooting and debugging.
Basic knowledge of Linux environments and command-line tools.
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is advantageous.
Basic knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Nice to Have

Experience configuring SaaS platforms.
Exposure to privacy technologies or consent management platforms such as OneTrust or Cookiebot.
Knowledge of GDPR, CPRA, and other privacy regulations.
Experience with API integrations.
Familiarity with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
Relevant web development certifications.
