About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Commercial Painter to join our growing painting crew at a well-established painting contractor serving residential and commercial clients throughout the Sacramento area. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality interior and exterior painting work on time and to the client's satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and applying primer to ensure proper adhesion and a smooth finish
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, and specialty coatings to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment
- Perform drywall patching, caulking, and minor carpentry repairs as needed prior to painting
- Erect and safely operate scaffolding, ladders, and lifts for work on multi-story buildings and high ceilings in compliance with OSHA standards
- Mix and match paints to meet client color specifications; maintain accurate records of paint colors and product codes for touch-up purposes
- Protect floors, furniture, and fixtures with drop cloths and masking tape; clean up job sites thoroughly at the end of each workday
- Communicate progress and any issues to the job foreman or project manager; maintain a professional appearance on client properties
- Follow California OSHA safety regulations including proper PPE use and ventilation requirements
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; completion of a painting apprenticeship program is a plus.
Experience:
2+ years of professional painting experience in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
Required Skills:
1. Ability to use common painting tools including brush, roller, and basic spray equipment for interior and exterior work
2. Basic surface preparation skills including knowledge of primers and preparation for wood, drywall, and stucco
3. Awareness of California OSHA safety standards and safe handling of paint and related materials
4. Ability to read and follow work orders and paint product instructions
5. Physical ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods in varying weather
6. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record
7. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing clean, professional finishes
Compensation:
Wage: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour depending on experience
Benefits: Paid sick leave, overtime eligibility, company-provided tools and PPE, uniform allowance, and opportunity to advance to Lead Painter or Foreman
